New World lets you live the miner’s dream and you can base a great deal of your entire time with the game on roaming Aeternum and gathering different types of ore. But not all types are easy to find and, early on, you may find yourself struggling to figure out where Fae Iron locations might be.
Fae Iron might not be the highest available tier of ore and its locations are hard to find for a good reason: it doesn’t seem to have a dedicated model you can look out for while exploring in New World. Instead, you get a chance to obtain it whenever you mine Iron Veins.
That chance is, however, very low by default and you can go tens of hours without seeing any Fae Iron. This is where New World’s crafting comes into play, allowing you to increase your Luck while mining.
We’ve found two ways to do this so far. One involves using Azoth when crafting gear and getting a perk that increases your luck when mining. This isn’t limited to just your pickaxe, however, it does seem to involve quite a bit of RNG.
If that’s too much randomness for your liking, cooking offers a less luck-based solution. Recipes like Roasted Potatoes and Herb-roasted Potatoes guarantee higher luck when mining as soon as you craft and consume the food. The necessary ingredients can be crafted, gathered from the world, or purchased from trading posts in settlements.
Having these bonuses increases your chances to find Fae Iron when harvesting Iron Veins from different locations in New World. They also seem to be pretty much necessary if you’re looking to have a steady stockpile of the resource.
