After a rather massive hype campaign, No Man's Sky managed to crash and burn like few games ever have. Regardless, Hello Games have stuck to their guns and pushed through the negativity, continuing their development of what was originally a somewhat drab and boring experience.
Ever since its release, No Man's Sky has been expanded with - among other things - such features as is base building, land-rovers and limited multiplayer functionality. All of this completely free of charge, mind. Having said that, there's plenty more in store for No Man's Sky, it would seem, as Hello Games have only recently announced their upcoming, and pretty game-changing update, titled simply: NEXT
No Man's Sky NEXT is a major thing for this game. It brings with it large swathes of revamps, reworks, brand new content, and brand new functionality. The first and foremost of these things is - you've probably guessed it - multiplayer. The trailer prominently features other players romping around, jumping, fighting and exploring to their heart's content, and however they see fit.
The next thing you'll notice upon watching the trailer is a drastic change of perspective! In other words, No Man's Sky is getting a fully-fledged third-person over-the-shoulder camera, which works seamlessly during both terrestrial exploration and while controlling vehicles!
Then there's subtler stuff, such as a new cloud rendering technique, biome variety and graphics being retrofitted so that the game looks better... lots of great stuff, really.
If you're curious about when all of this (and more!) will be made available on PC, then be sure to check your game on 24th of this month, which is next week.
