LuminDrive has announced “N.O.X.”, a new co-op horror game that looks like a mix of Phasmophobia and The X-Files.
N.O.X. will be hitting Steam Early Access when it launches, which currently features “a variety of ghost-hunting tools, alongside a main storyline for players to follow,” as well as “a randomized map system that provides diverse experiences, encouraging replayability.”
The Steam store description for the game provides a bit more detail about how it will play, and it certainly sounds like something for Phasmophobia fans.
“Your task is to find three types of evidence from a pool of seven, using seven different ghost detection devices to determine the spirit’s type.
“7 Types of Evidence – From invisible handprints and temperature fluctuations to eerie whispers from the other side, each piece of evidence helps reveal the entity you’re facing.
“Batteries Have a Lifespan – Some tools rely on energy, and batteries can die unexpectedly. Always keep an eye on power levels and swap out equipment before you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
“Tool Variations – Certain tools come in multiple forms. Choosing the right tool for the situation and your playstyle will make your investigation more efficient.”
LuminDrive intends to keep N.O.X. in early access for about a year, citing the end of 2026 as a possible date to bring the horror game out of beta. In that time, the developer will add new content such as “maps, new ghost types, and content based on community feedback.”
It will also be priced differently during early access compared to the full launch, where the developer will gradually raise the price as it gets new features and content.
