Kogado Studio returns to its roots with One-inch Tactics, a turn-based strategy game that looks like a spiritual successor to its Power Dolls series.
Power Dolls was an obscure series of turn-based strategy games first launched in 1994 for the PC. They remained relatively unknown in Western markets but were fondly remembered and enjoyed by many strategy enthusiasts in Japan.
One-inch Tactics is set to release on the 20th May for $19.99, so you will be able to check it out very soon. You can find its Steam page here.
Here’s an overview:
Turn the tide of war with nuanced strategies in One-inch Tactics, now available for players seeking a unique turn-based strategy experience. Created by Kogado Studio, known for its pioneering simulation games, this title combines simplicity with deep strategic complexity. The intuitive gameplay is set on an interactive 3D playing field, reminiscent of a multidimensional board game, offering a relaxed, tabletop gaming atmosphere.
Dive into a variety of missions that take you through mountains, urban areas, and fortresses. Equip your squad appropriately for each environment, keeping in mind the importance of line of sight and fire as you maneuver around hilltops and cliff shadows. Your strategic acumen will be tested as you search for and uncover enemy positions to gain the upper hand.
We haven’t played any of the Power Dolls games, but when we were looking into them, we thought some of the later games had a similar style to Vanguard Bandits, but there’s lots of examples on PC, and some of your may think of the Advanced Wars series if you’re coming from Nintendo platforms.
