Independent developer and publisher Fatshark today announced online post-apocalyptic turn-based strategy game Dreadlands. Set in the same universe as Krater, the title is developed by Blackfox Studios, led by former senior Fatshark developer Peter Nilsson.
Dreadlands will see players taking their “misfit gang of miscreants and mercenaries” across the several regions that make up its shared world. The title will emphasize its online component by mixing PvE encounters with PvP battles.
While exploring Dreadlands’ world, you’ll bump into other players. At that point, you’ve a choice between cooperating in order to tackle bigger foes or tearing each other apart. Your gang will be comprised of members belonging to different factions which, upon levelling up, unlock new tactics to use in battle. There will also be a base to upgrade and manage, as well as artifacts that can be combined into powerful gear.
“With Dreadlands we want to take the online elements of an MMO or a shared world shooter and combine it with addictive turn-based gameplay” said Peter Nilsson, founder and Creative Director Blackfox Studios.
Dreadlands is set to release later this year. You can check more of it out on its website or follow and wishlist it on Steam.
