The Overwatch 2 roadmap has recently been unveiled, showing players all the upcoming content coming to the game in 2023. If the fifth season is about a new magical theme, cinematic, and events, Season 6 appears to be set to feature something bigger.
A new support hero will be joining the roster around this time, and while there’s not a lot of information about this yet, looking at the most recent support hero kit, things could become even more interesting for the game. Alongside that, various new gameplay additions and changes are coming into the game.
Therefore, the ultimate question is: when is the Overwatch 2 Season 6 release date? Here’s everything you need to know.
Overwatch 2 Season 6 Release Date
If Blizzard decides to stick to the same schedule as the previous seasons, we can speculate that the sixth season will drop on August 15, 2023. We still have a few months before the sixth season begins, but we already have a good idea of what to expect, thanks to the Overwatch 2 roadmap. Below, you’ll find all the content listed for Overwatch 2 Season 6.
- Story Missions
- New Support Hero
- Flashpoint
- Hero Mastery
- Firing Range
- Player Progression System
- Overwatch Anniversary
The Story Missions of Season 6 will likely focus on the story arc of Overwatch 2, similar to how the Uprising, Retribution, and Storm Rising modes work. Instead of playing against another team, you and your teammates will be pitted against AI enemies as you progress from one place to another.
There will also be a new Support Hero, though Blizzard hasn’t revealed much about this yet. Flashpoint, a new core mode for Overwatch 2, will also be joining the existing game modes in Quick Play and Competitive.
There’s not much info about Hero Mastery and Player Progression System at the moment, but these seem like a system where players can track their performance for each hero and show off their progress to other players.
Lastly, the Overwatch 2 anniversary event will also return. Based on past anniversary events, players can expect to earn exclusive rewards, such as skins, emotes, and sprays, for a limited time and enjoy a wide variety of game modes throughout the week.
