Publisher Hi-Rez Studios and developer Evil Mojo Games have announced that Paladins’ Indomitable Update 4.3 is now live, introducing new champion Octavia, the brand new Event Pass system, and more.
Octavia is Paladins’ newest damage champion, bringing a powerful semi-automatic marksman rifle to the fight. Her alt-fire functions about how you’d expect from an ability that allows snipers to zoom in – Octavia gains accuracy but loses movement speed. However, that’s not all.
When used in mid-air, the ability allows Octavia to briefly hover and fire at the surprised enemies below. Zooming in also lets her vision pierce both friendly and enemy Distortion Fields. Octavia’s Distortion Field is a large dome that “is see-through for allies but hopelessly opaque for enemies,” according to the publisher.
Her two remaining abilities are Commanding Leap, which simply lets her leap around the battlefield, and Creeping Barrage, which brings a devastating laser barrage upon her enemies.
“As a design team, we started with the idea that we needed a marksman rifle weapon in our game. From there, Octavia evolved and became a unique Damage Champion equally able to support her team and deal high damage. Octavia is easy to understand but hard to master – that’s the perfect profile for the Realm’s Commander,” said Game Designer Alex D’Alessandro.
Paladins’ Event Pass replaces its Battle Pass system going forward. Available for 400 credits, it includes a single reward track available to both free and premium players. The amount of experience required to progress through its tiers has been halved, compared to previous iterations, while Event Passes refresh every 2 months instead of 3.
You can find all the details about Paladins’ Indomitable Update 4.3 in the patch notes over on the game’s website.
