Paradox Arc, the independent game publishing arm of Paradox Interactive, has revealed a partnership with developer Cool And Good Games. This collaboration will support the release and promotion of its game Starminer, previously known as ILL Space.
Starminer sees players engage in imaginative base construction, resourceful space mining, and robust defense strategies. You’re tasked with establishing a prosperous mining outpost, pursuing advanced research to develop new station modules, and bolstering your defenses to withstand a wave of aggressive alien pathogens that become more adept at tracking your heat signature as your colony grows.
Starminer is the latest game under Paradox Interactive's Arc Inide label
Cool And Good Games announces that Starminer is set to enter early access on Steam sometime in 2024. The developers are gearing up to introduce both cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes, emphasising that community input will be pivotal in “guiding the evolution of the game and guaranteeing an engaging, shared space strategy experience that aligns with the passions of our committed community.”
Here’s a brief description of Starminer:
“Starminer is a space industry and logistics simulation that strives to be at the forefront of space strategy gaming, blending cutting-edge rendering technologies with deep tactical and creative gameplay. It’s set against backdrops of fully-realized 3D environments, where the beauty of space becomes an integral part of player immersion, setting Starminer apart as a visually stunning and technologically advanced space base-building game. Starminer is built with realism and immersion as core design pillars through the incorporation of Newtonian physics for propulsion and movement. This not only adds a layer of authenticity and complexity to the gameplay but also introduces a rewarding learning curve for players seeking a genuinely advanced spacefaring experience.
In Starminer, the universe is more than just a pretty backdrop for exploration and conquest—it’s a playground for players to explore their creativity and long-term ambitions for their fleets. Central to the game’s creative ethos is the ability to design a variety of space stations that bring them toward their goals; whether it’s to mine resources, be a defensive power, colonization, energy production, or something else entirely. The dynamic and customizable nature of these different types of stations means that the player doesn’t only decide what their cosmic empire will be; it will become a unique reflection of their strategic prowess and imaginative flair.”</b>
The reason for the name change was because ILL Space was too similar to another upcoming project on Steam and it felt “it made more sense to have a name that gave some context to the game.”
You can wishlist Starminer on Steam now. Paradox Arc has so far published 6 titles under the label, which includes Space Trash Scavenger, Mechabellum, Knights of Pen and Paper 3, Surviving the Abyss, Stardeus, and Across the Obelisk.
