Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Channel 3 Entertainment today announced their publishing partnership for upcoming first-person factory building game Foundry.
Currently in development, Foundry sets us loose in procedurally-generated, voxel-based worlds, allowing us to design factories capable of performing increasingly complex tasks.
Paradox Interactive Publishes Foundry
A playthrough starts with us manually mining and processing resources before crafting our first pieces of machinery.
As we develop better technologies, we’ll eventually become capable of automating entire production lines.
We’ll also “face different logistic challenges such as pipe networks and power systems working to expand [our] constantly growing production lines as [we] create [our] own gigantic, automated, and self-sustaining factory.”
Described as “the perfect mix between grid-based construction games and factory building simulations,” Foundry is playable solo or with friends.
Although there currently are no limits to how many players can join online and offline (via LAN) multiplayer sessions, the developer considers that it’s best to play with 2-4 players.
“The overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from the Foundry Alpha on Itch.io was encouraging and highlighted the game’s immense potential,” said Patrik Meder, Vice-president at Channel 3 Entertainment.
“To fully realize this potential, it was essential to collaborate with the perfect partner. Being published by Paradox Interactive allows us to fulfill the vision and ambitions we have for Foundry.”
Foundry is headed to PC but does not yet have a release date. A new demo will be available during this month’s Steam Next Fest event, which runs from October 9 to October 16.
While we wait to get our hands on the game, the trailer below gives us a look at what we can expect from it, while its Steam page provides further details and screenshots.
In other Paradox news, the publisher has also recently revealed Milennia, a turn-based strategy game that’s aiming for Civilization’s crown.
