Paradox has decided to delay the console release dates for Cities: Skylines 2 indefinitely, due to it not meeting the “stability and performance targets”.
Cities: Skylines 2 was originally meant to be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in October 2023, but it got pushed back again and again because of stability and performance issues with the PC version, which is currently available on Steam.
After several delays, it was planned for release in October 2024, but, unfortunately, it’s not ready and will now be delayed indefinitely until it has passed the stability and performance targets Paradox has set.
“Unfortunately, we have not yet met the stability and performance targets we set for the console release. Without a Release Candidate (RC), we are now unable to meet an October release window,” it said in a statement.
“While we are making slow but steady progress, there are still unresolved issues impacting the game in ways that harm the player experience we want to deliver. “
Paradox says that it will review the situation in August and see about announcing a new release date if stability and performance targets have been met. It’s possible that we may not see its release until 2025.
“We understand this is disappointing, and it’s not what we had hoped for either. However, we are committed to keeping you informed throughout this development process, even if the updates aren’t always what we’d like.” it concluded.
Paradox recently cancelled its life sim game, Life by You, which was being led by former Sims boss and Second Life CEO Rod Humble.
The PC version of Cities: Skylines 2 has been growing in strength, bolstered by two recent patches that have delivered significant improvements.
