When is Phasmophobia Progression 2.0 update going to be released? Kinetic Games is readying Phasmophobia’s most significant update yet in the form of Progression 2.0. Thankfully, it has taken time out from working on that to let fans know a bit more about what to expect from it.
We already knew there would be a progress reset that sets everyone back to zero. Existing players won’t be punished in terms of unlocks though as they will remain in place thanks to a Prestige I badge.
Kinetic Games has also revealed those players will be able to design their own badge and have it permanently stuck on their character’s arm as a mark of their original level. You can see a small preview of badge-building in the image below.
Phasmophobia Progression 2.0 Release Date
Phasmophobia’s Progression 2.0 Update will launch on the 17th of August, so this Thursday. It will launch at 11am GMT in the morning.
Kinetic Games recently revealed that the console versions on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will launch next month. There will also be PSVR 2 support with crossplay enabled across all platforms.

Another significant aspect of the update pertains to modifications made to Phasmophobia’s D.O.T.S. Projector. This component has been a source of dispute in previous versions of the game, prompting Kinetic Games to fine-tune it to iron out the issues.
The most notable change is that the visuals from the D.O.T.S. Projector will now accurately display the ghost’s actual position. The developers anticipate that this improvement will aid players who have been grappling with locating the ghosts. Further enhancing this feature is a new short “D.O.T.S. state” that activates when a ghost interacts with the D.O.T.S. evidence. During this state, the ghost becomes temporarily visible under infrared light and will wander towards the closest player or random spot before vanishing.
The D.O.T.S. Projector will now also come in different tiers, starting from a handheld laser pen-style unit up to a larger, deployable unit that offers a broader scanning range. Players can choose to bring different tiers of the projector to an investigation.
As we approach the release of the Progression 2.0 update, we expect more details to emerge, and we will continue to keep you informed about the latest developments.
