Phasmophobia is easily one of the most recent Early Access hits, but its popularity will likely translate into a longer period before the full version comes out.
The solo developer behind Phasmophobia initially planned for a short stay in Steam Early Access, however, the high number of players enjoying its ghost hunts have derailed those plans.
“I was originally planning the Early Access to be short”, Kinetic Games’ Dknighter told IGN, “where I just add a few more maps, ghost types and equipment. However, due to the game’s popularity, everyone’s expectations are increased so I am going to have to reconsider my plans for the game’s future.”

Phasmophobia’ success also surprised the developer, who wasn’t expecting anywhere close to as many players to be interested in their game.
“I was planning for the server capacity hitting a maximum of 500 players on launch day and it to drop off from there, as well as only aiming to make enough money to keep making more games. Now the game has over 2 million sales, with a player peak of around 90k.”
Website Steam Database lists 112,717 as the highest number of concurrent players for Phasmophobia, indicating that interest for the title is nowhere close to waning.
This popularity also led to a now-deleted fake mobile version of the game racking up over 50,000 downloads.
