Phasmophobia has caught the attention of many a gamer looking for a co-op horror experience, but while some are braving dark hallways and fighting ghosts, others find themselves stuck at 90 percent on the loading screen and unable to play.
Phasmophobia’s Stuck at 90 percent loading screen issue can occur spotaneously, even after a period of the game working just fine, which makes the entire thing aggravating.
Luckily, there are a handful of fixes that players can use to get around it. Some, however, come at a price.
Phasmophobia Stuck at 90 Percent Loading Screen
Before trying the more drastic fixes for Phasmophobia getting stuck at 90 percent on the loading screen, it’s a good idea to try running the game as an administrator.
Alternatively, verifying the game files through Steam can lead to small downloads that provide an easy workaround. If these two potential fixes don’t work, you’ll have to delete your saves.
That’s due to the fact that the cause of Phasmophobia getting stuck on the loading screen has been narrowed down to corrupted saves.
To do so, head over to the C:\Users(your username)\AppData\LocalLow\Kinetic Games\Phasmophobia folder, find the SaveData.txt file and delete it. This, sadly, will also erase your progress.
If the above fix doesn’t stop Phasmophobia from getting stuck at 90 percent on the loading screen, delete everything in the C:\Users(your username)\AppData\LocalLow\Kinetic Games folder, restart Steam and reinstall the game.
Developer Kinetic Games isn’t sure why saves are getting corrupted. It’s likely, though, that Phasmophobia’s Early Access status contributes to this.
Hopefully, as the game spends more time in development, problems like this get permanent fixes that don’t lead to loss of progress.
