The latest Tempest update for Phasmophobia brings some significant alterations, additions, and fixes to the popular ghost-hunting game.
The 8.1 update includes new difficulty levels, custom difficulty level changes, a challenge mode, a new cursed possession, and more.
Firstly, an Insanity option has been added as a standard difficulty level for the most experienced specter sleuths. In addition, the custom difficulty options have been adjusted with tweaks to payouts and requirements chief among them.
Phasmophobia 8.1 Patch Notes
The challenge mode adds a fresh challenge each week and offers a rotating difficulty set. You must complete a challenge requirement three times on a map to succeed. If you fail, that’s it, no chance at that challenge until it appears one more time later in the year. 26 challenges will be spread across the year.
A Monkey’s Paw has been added to cursed possessions, and yes it grants twisted wishes to the player.
Beyond that are a slate of fixes and an announcement that the upcoming 9.0 update will feature an overhaul to progression, causing a reset for all players. Thankfully, existing players will be able to keep all difficulties and locations already earned.
You can read the full patch notes on the game’s Steam page.
