Dauntless publisher and developer Phoenix Labs today announced that it is opening two new studios in Montreal and Los Angeles.
The teams there will join new additions to Phoenix Labs’ existing Vancouver and San Mateo studios “on the journey of developing new games.”
The company has added more than 50 developers to its ranks in 2020 and expects to reach 250 employees by the end of next year, enabling it to both tackle new projects and continue supporting Dauntless, its free-to-play action-RPG whose community numbers more than 25 million players.
Phoenix Labs Opens Two New Studios, Dauntless Reforged Update Launch
Phoenix Labs’ Montreal studio will be led by André Roy – who also worked for Ubisoft in the past –, while Marie-Andrée Lavoie takes on the role of lead of talent and culture initiatives, and Guillaume Roy acts as the studio’s head of technology.
The Los Angeles studio is led by Product Director Omar Kendall – previously of Riot Games – and General Manager Jing Wang.
As it announces the opening of two new studios and having “multiple prototypes in the works”, Phoenix Labs is also gearing up for tomorrow’s Dauntless Reforged launch.
The update reimagines the monster-hunting action-RPG’s story and progression while adding the new Hunting Grounds hunt type, Gliders, and more.
Dauntless is available now on PC, exclusively via the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
