Pioneers of Pagonia, the upcoming strategic city builder, from The Settlers creator Volker Wertich and indie studio Envision Games today received a new in-game trailer, giving us a look at a new slice of gameplay.
Pioneers of Pagonia’s vibrant world immediately stands out, as the trailer moves between footage of workers performing a variety of tasks in and around a growing village.
Pioneers of Pagonia In-game Reveal Trailer
The title is intended to be “a return to classic city-building gameplay” that revolves around “a deep economic simulation with branching production chains.”
At the core of Pioneers of Pagonia’s gameplay lies the “Wuselfaktor” – a German word that roughly translates to “the hustle and bustle factor.”
Growing villages and ensuring that production chains work efficiently is only part of what we’ll do.
During the game, we’ll also need to explore the title’s procedurally generated islands, discovering in the process vicious creatures, dark secrets, and other inhabitants with which we can ally.
According to the developer, we’ll eventually get to see “thousands of Pagonians” doing their duties throughout our settlements.
The title will feature 40 different building types and over 70 different goods and dispersed production chains when it launches in Steam Early Access near towards the end of 2023, encouraging creativity when setting up our settlement’s economy.
Pioneers of Pagonia already has a Steam page, where you can wishlist and follow it.
Currently, the team behind it intends to keep the game in early access for at least 6 months, but is open to prolonging the period based on the feedback it receives from players. If you’re curious to see the new IP in action, check out the trailer embedded below.
