After a solid launch in early November, Planet Coaster 2 is now starting to get its post-launch plans going, and they include patching and updating the game to meet players’ demands and smooth out rough edges. With Update 1.1.0, Frontier aims to squash several annoyances and offer improvements that expert park managers have been asking for since the 1.0 release.
Alongside this update, the first post-launch DLC, a ‘Thrill-Seekers Ride Pack’ that includes two new coasters and three flat rides, arrived priced at $9,99. Despite the game’s remarkable set of creative and sharing tools, don’t forget that Frontier is big on DLC packs, so expect more of these to arrive over the coming months. It’s up to you to purchase them as soon as they arrive or wait for sales.
Below you’ll find a quick and to-the-point rundown of all the major changes and fixes that patch 1.1.0 applied to the game on December 12, but we recommend checking out the full update notes here if you were waiting for more specific fixes.
Planet Coaster 2 patch 1.1.0 – Flumes and pools are improved
The main improvements featured in patch 1.1.0 affect flumes and pools after many player requests. Here are the most important points:
- Rafts/mats have more dynamic movement while travelling down flumes.
- Flumes and slides can now be opened regardless of “where the test dummy ends up,” which means you can throw guests on terrain/paving. They still need to be tested though.
- Guests will start using flumes as soon as the previous one is riding down.
- ‘Big Bowl’ and ‘Ultra Wide Pipe’ pieces have been added.
- Added a ‘Build New’ button to the Flume Info Panel to allow for quicker access to creation. Likewise, shortcut buttons to flumes and slides are now in.
Planet Coaster 2 patch 1.1.0 – PC-only improvements and bug fixes
On top of coasters getting the option to have separate stations for loading/unloading and scenery being available for tracked and transport rides, this patch provides many PC-only improvements and critical fixes too. Here are some highlights:
- Edge-scrolling with the mouse has been added.
- Mouse inputs and camera tilt can be rebound too.
- New keyboard control shortcuts.
- Arrow keys can now control the camera.
- Improvements to menu/UI navigation based on player feedback.
- New scenery pieces that include: transparent glass, coaster supports, and fireworks.
- Guest limit can now be increased to up to 12,000 guests on PC (Sandbox Mode).
- The Workshop download limited has been removed on PC.
The full patch notes include more upgrades all over the game and key bug fixes, as well as new optimization and performance tweaks. All in all, and based on my testing so far, this marks the first notable ‘proper’ update after the first streak of smaller patches.
