Command & Conquer Remastered is trucking along nicely, according to the latest word from Jim Vessella himself, and the developers have now revealed the first of the high-quality assets that the Remastered titles will use.
More specifically, the revealed asset is that of a Tesla Tank from the original Red Alert, which are also coming alongside the C&C remaster. You can check the asset out for yourself just below, but we have to admit that the Remasters will look rather snazzy if this Tesla is anything to go by.
“Positive momentum continues and earlier this month we completed our first production milestone,” said Vessella. Namely, the first Campaign mission of Tiberian Dawn has now reached full alpha-tier of quality, which means that all of the relevant visuals are now at the same quality as that lovely Tesla Tank above.
According to Vessella, the project is - even at this stage of development - a proper throwback to days when C&C ruled supreme, which is great news for those of us who eagerly await the Remasters. Red Alert, too, is moving through production nicely, with devs now being capable of loading Red Alert missions properly. “So to celebrate this first step for Red Alert, we thought it would be fun to share a preview for one of the most iconic Red Alert units - the Tesla Tank.”
The asset above was designed so as to be quickly identifiable mid-combat, so the developers had to get rid of a number of widgets and addons that the Tesla Tank initially had during the earlier stages of its design. Clearly, the developers have a very exact vision for what they’re trying to accomplish with the C&C Remasters.
“Of note, we only interpreted one Tesla ring from the legacy in-game asset, but there’s already been a healthy debate with the Community Council whether the Tesla ball should have two rings to match the cinematic reference,” noted Vessella, asking the community for feedback on this iteration of the Tesla Tank.
