Seeing everything that Remnant 2 has to offer involves completing multiple playthroughs, due to how its worlds are procedurally generated. As you familiarize yourself with its weapons and enemies, you may want to get a clear picture about how to change difficulty and when you can do so.
Remnant 2 launches with four difficulty levels. Three of them – Survivor, Veteran, and Nightmare – are available right away. The fourth, Apocalypse, is unlocked by completing one playthrough.
Can you change Difficulty in Remnant 2
It is worth noting that, while Survivor is more forgiving than the others, it isn’t quite the equivalent of Easy difficulty in other games and does come with a decent amount of challenge.
You’ll select a difficulty before starting your very first playthrough. After that point, you can change difficulty in Remnant 2 by interacting with the World Stone that acts as a checkpoint in Ward 13.
The option at the bottom allows you to reroll your campaign, which is when you’ll be able to select a new difficulty.
Regardless if you opt for more or less challenge, rerolling erases all your progress in the current campaign, while reshuffling the layout of the game’s worlds.
Your character’s progress, including the items you may have found along the way, will, however, persist.
The same applies for Adventure mode, a shorter alternative game mode unlocked by defeating the world bosses in each of the game’s worlds.
As for when you can change difficulty in Remnant 2, doing so is possible at any point during any given playthrough, provided you’re okay with resetting your worlds.
At launch, there is no option to make things easier or harder during a playthrough without fully rerolling your active campaign or Adventure mode run.
