Following the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, and showing their willingness to produce an official Resident Evil 3 Remake, it's really not much of a stretch to assume that Capcom's developers have already started chipping away at the remake of Nemesis.
Recent rumours have suggested that not only is Resident Evil 8 being developed, but they've also uncovered some key details about the game's features and functionality. Furthermore, it has been suggested that RE8 won't come out before Resident Evil 3 Remake is released.
It is worth keeping in mind that this leak has not been properly substantiated at the time of writing, and that you really ought to keep a pinch of salt handy while reading it. That said, the information definitely does sound believable enough.
According to this info, Resident Evil 8 will go back to being a third-person game with a heavy focus on psychological horror. Think hallucinations, including the dreaded Hook Man from Resident Evil 3.5 Capcom is apparently unclear on whether this should be a mainline entry in the franchise or a spin-off, though development was started just last year.
Related are rumours that Resident Evil 8 (or whatever it might turn out to be by the time it's out) will not be coming out before Resident Evil 3 - Nemesis Remake is out, though Capcom has not yet moved forward from discussing the project internally.
With Capcom recently announcing that RE3R would happen if fans want it, it seems anything is possible. RE2R did turn out to be a massive success, after all.
