Resident Evil Village’s upcoming expansion will bring the Winters family saga to a close when it launches later this October.
Included in it is a scenario called Shadows of Rose, that focuses on Resident Evil Village protagonist Ethan Winters’ grown-up daughter as she wrestles with her powers. It also marks the end of the storyline which began in Resident Evil 7.
Director Kento Kinoshita told IGN that Capcom is “creating the Shadows of Rose story to conclude the Winters family saga.”
This could mean that we’ll also learn more about what became of Ethan – who was first introduced in Resident Evil 7 –, following the tease at the end of Resident Evil: Village.
Kinoshita declined to share details about where the series is headed next, but it sounds certain that Resident Evil 9 will revolve around new protagonists.
The two mainline games featuring the Winters family saw the series shifting for the first time to a first-person perspective.
Although it didn’t appeal to every fan, the games are widely seen as responsible for having a revitalized interest in Capcom’s franchise, although Lady Dimitrescu also played her part.
Resident Evil Village - Winters’ Expansion is slated to launch on October 28. Aside from Shadows of Rose, it also introduces a third-person mode for the base game’s story mode, alongside three new characters playable in The Mercenaries mode, one of which is the above-mentioned Lady Dimitrescu.
