Field of Glory II is a turn-based strategy which emulates ancient historical warfare in a manner that isn't entirely dissimilar to that of a tabletop. The game's latest expansion pack, Rise of Persia, brings with it a number of new factions from 681 BC, with a particular focus on chariot units.
Rise of Persia is the fourth major expansion pack for Field of Glory II, and it is coming on the wings of Update 1.4.7, which introduces new content and fixes old bugs at no additional charge whatsoever. This means that even if you choose not to get Rise of Persia, there's much to look forward to.
To keep things short, Rise of Persia comes with a considerably lengthy content list, including but not limited to 12 new factions, 32 new units, 6 new Epic Battles, 35 new Quick Battles, major expansions to both Custom Battles and Sandbox Campaign modules, and 4 new historical campaigns. It is currently priced at €12,49, and is readily available via Steam.
The free Update 1.4.7, on the other hand, introduces a number of new units, including the Praetorian Guard in two specialised variants, some additional army lists, and various gameplay changes, such as altering chariot/bow interactions, melee combat percentages, and more.
Players can also expect improvements to AI-controlled armies, as well as a number of QoL improvements to the user interface. The full changelog has been published on Slitherine's Field of Glory II blog, if you're interested, and if you're not, just kickstart the game and enjoy your shiny new Praetorians.
