There's a lot of fluff around DICE's upcoming WWII shooter, Battlefield V, but some of the spiciest, most intriguing rumours yet have come from an unnamed source who has provided accurate info about EA before.
Of course, none of what you're about to read is to be taken at face value, and it would definitely be worth your while to have a grain of salt at hand, but the source has suggested some major stuff that is just about plausible enough to remain believable.
Battlefield V's Pre-Orders Have Outsold Titanfall 2
To be more precise, the source claims that the preorders for Battlefield V have by now outsold the total combined number of preorders and week one sales that Titanfall 2 had attained. Not an entirely unexpected rumour, to be sure, as Titanfall 2 is not only a more specialised, niche title, but it also got really unlucky with the release window.
Battlefield V's Battle Royale Mode Might go F2P
Another semi-plausible rumour! EA and DICE are, naturally, driven primarily by profit when it comes to deciding on the how and why of their games' pricing models, and witnessing the success of free-to-play battle royale titles must be fairly sobering in this regard.
While the publisher won't dare fiddle with the pricing model of base Battlefield V, separating the battle royale from the main game might be a sound financial decision.
Battlefield V Might Include a Remaster of Bad Company 2
The most unlikely of the three rumours we have on offer: pulling this off would essentially be doing the same thing that Activision decided to do with Modern Warfare Remaster, and though possible, it seems slightly odd for EA to try and do the same thing.
In any case, going after Bad Company 2 is also a comparatively low-effort move, because, though beloved, the game is still in really good shape, and is less in need of a remaster than, say, the original Bad Company is.
Anyhow, none of this has yet been confirmed nor corroborated in any way, and should not be taken as anything other than rumours. We'll see how things develop in the coming weeks.
