Sea of Thieves continues its piratey journey as it enters its second year. While bearded pirates aren’t exactly uncommon on the open seas, you may occasionally bump into a different kind of beard, namely the game’s Kiwibeard error.
Here’s everything we know about the Sea of Thieves Kiwibeard error and whether or not there’s a fix or workaround for it.

The Sea Of Thieves Kiwibeard error has to do with the always-online title’s servers. Developer Rare has given an explanation for why the error might be encountered on the game’s support page. It reads as follows:
- The Servers Are Closed – We are not running a play session when you tried to log in, so you cannot play Sea of Thieves right now.
- You have more than one Gamertag signed in to your console. Please sign all other accounts out of the console, and only launch the game with the one account that has been invited to play.
In most cases, the Sea Of Thieves Kiwibeard error is caused by the servers being down or otherwise unavailable, which gives players little means of working around it. Patience or using the time to plan out your piratey adventures are advised.
