Rare Ltd has confirmed that Sea of Thieves will feature full crossplay support between PC and Xbox Series X upon its launch on PlayStation 5, scheduled for April 30th.
Sea of Thieves is among four Microsoft first-party titles set to release on the PlayStation 5, including Grounded, Pentiment, and Hi-Fi Rush.
Sea of Thieves Crossplay Support on PlayStation 5
Sea of Thieve’s Executive Producer, Joe Neate, confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter), saying “We have cross-play and cross-progression for those asking, so yes, your progression carries over regardless of the platform you play on.”
Crossplay enables players from various platforms to connect and play together online. So, if you have an Xbox Series X and your friend owns a PlayStation 5, you can still team up and enjoy games together. PC players don’t miss out either.
Sea of Thieves allows players to embark on quests to search for buried treasure, build their reputation with the Trading Companies, and engage in battles against a variety of adversaries, from Phantoms and Ocean Crawlers to Megalodons and even a Kraken.
Participating in PvP ship battles provides entertaining and amusing moments—until, of course, your ship starts to sink, but it’s great when you get the last laugh.
PS5 players won’t be able to jump into the captains seat until 30th April, when it releases for the Platform. It’s already available on PC and Xbox Serie X/S.
