Publisher Bohemia Interactive has announced that Silica, the first game from its indie-focused Bohemia Incubator label, is now available in Steam Early Access.
Set on the desert planet of Baltarus, Silica enters Steam Early Access with three playable modes. Its main draw is Strategy, a mode that blends first-person shooter and real-time strategy elements.

In it, you can take on the role of a commander overseeing battles or of an infantry soldier fighting on the battlefield.
Commanders play from an isometric perspective, placing down structures that give their faction bigger and more lethal tools to use in battle.
Infantry soldiers act as the boots on the ground, using a variety of available weapons and vehicles to defeat the opposing factions.
Silica’s early access version includes two human factions and an insect-like race native to the planet of Baltarus, all of them playable.
They come with 5 infantry classes, 11 vehicles, and 8 alien creatures, which you can use in both single-player and multiplayer facilitated by the inclusion of AI-controlled units.
Aside from its Strategy mode, Silica enters Steam Early Access with two additional FPS-focused game modes.
Prospector is a co-op experience in which you battle enemies while searching for a resource called Balterium, while Arena is the game’s take on traditional deathmatch.

Its developer currently plan to keep it in early access for somewhere between 9 and 12 months, delivering “a number of significant expansions and features based on the community requirements.” When it fully launches, Silica’s price will increase to 24,99$/24,99€.
