Slitherine’s Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+ Winter Edition event had plenty of announcements for fans of both the publisher’s work as well as strategy and tactics in general. From new game reveals, to learning when Distant Worlds 2 releases, and what green menace joins Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector’s roster next, there was quite a bit to track.

New Announcements
The publisher unveiled three games for the first time during the Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+ Winter Edition event, further expanding its library of strategy titles.
Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance
A real-time strategy game set in the rebooted movie’s universe, Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance adds another popular IP to Slitherine’s portfolio. Its campaign focuses on ensuring humanity’s survival while multiplayer lets you take control of the machines.
Headquarters World War II
A turn-based wargame that lets players experience the Battle of Normandy from both the Allied and Axis side. Three different campaigns follow US, UK and German troops. Gameplay is easy to pick up but hard to master.
Modern Naval Warfare
Ushering in “the new generation of nuclear submarine simulators,” Modern Naval Warfare puts players in control of a USS Virginia-class submarine. You’ll track enemies, avoid patrols and mines, but also use torpedoes and cruise missile attacks when stealth no longer works. Modern Naval Warfare launches on PC in 2022 and will also feature VR support.
Upcoming Game Announcements
Stargate: Timekeepers
Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+ Winter Edition also gave us our first look at Stargate: Timekeepers gameplay. Players control a small squad of specialists, using stealth and distraction to eliminate an enemy force that outnumbers them.
Broken Arrow
Broken Arrow brings its blend of joint forces wargame and real-time tactics elements to PC in 2022, its first gameplay video showing off 11-minutes’ worth of combat between US and Russian forces highlighting armor, artillery, and helicopters working together.
Starship Troopers - Terran Command
Starship Troopers - Terran Command is steadily making its way towards launch, slated for Q1 2022, developer The Artistocrats implementing fan feedback following the success of the game’s demo during the Steam Festival. In addition, composer Kejero provided insight on how his approach to creating the game’s score.
Distant Worlds 2
4x strategy game Distant Worlds 2 will let players conquer its living galaxy on March 10, 2022, when it arrives on PC.
DLC Announcements
Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector - Necrons DLC
Q1 2022 is when the Necrons take to the fields of Baal Secundus as Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector’s first post-launch playable faction. The DLC will be accompanied by a free update that also introduces a procedurally generated campaign.
Panzer Corps 2 - Pacific DLC
Panzer Corps 2’s upcoming DLC will take players to the Pacific Theater for the first time in the series decade-long history. Japan joins the fray as a new playable faction in a new campaign, skirmish, and multiplayer matches. The US forces also receive a new set of units, “with a particular focus on famous carrier-based aircraft.” The game’s naval combat is also getting reworked, given how it plays a significant role in the conflict.
Field of Glory II: Medieval - Storm of Arrows DLC
The Storm of Arrows DLC focuses on the Hundred Years War, expanding the already excellent Field of Glory II: Medieval with 45 new units hailing from the 14th and 15th centuries, 95 new army lists, 8 new historical scenarios, and more.
Valor and Victory
In the first half of 2022, Valor and Victory players can take to the Eastern Front in the game’s Stalingrad DLC and try out the new Advanced Squad Leader mode.
Flashpoint Campaigns Southern Storm
A grand tactical wargame set during 1989, Flashpoint Campaigns Southern Storm promises a deep simulation of combat operations that sees players battling it out over more than 40 maps across Southern Germany. Boasting 29 scenarios and 5 campaigns, its playable factions include the US, France, Canada, West Germany, Soviet Union, and more.
