Starward Industries, the developer of the hit indie sci-fi The Invincible, has debuted a new gameplay trailer for its new game, Into the Fire.
Into the Fire is described as an “action-adventure RPG with survival and arcade elements” where your enemy is Mother Nature herself.
The store description for Into the Fire reads:
You take on the role of one of the bold explorers investigating what appears to be an extinct volcanic range. Strive to survive and save as many lives as possible while facing the force of nature, the aftermath of a natural disaster, deep-seated human beliefs, social conflicts, and your own inner demons. Will you uncover the mysteries hidden beneath Dante’s archipelago, the most seismically and volcanically active zone in the world?
Starward has now released a gameplay trailer showing off more of the game. The game will be all about saving people from volcanic disasters. Using retro-stylized equipment like extinguishers and an axe, you’ll need to adapt to the world as it gradually becomes more dangerous and hostile to you.
As the fires spread and gain more strength, it becomes a race against time to complete your mission and save as many people as you can.
Into the Fire is also inspired by the works of Ryszard Kapuściński, a Polish author whose works include Another Day of Life and The Shadow of the Sun. Fans of The Invincible will be aware of Stanisław Lem’s influence on that game, so expect a similar level of care given to Kapuściński’s works.
Into the Fire will launch on PC via Steam Early Access later this year. With it being an Early Access title, Starward will use player feedback and testing to improve the game leading up to the full release.
