Smite 2 will begin its Closed Alpha Test on August 27. Although the action MOBA RPG will be free-to-play upon its official release, access to the alpha requires purchasing one of the three Founder’s Editions.
There are the standard Founder’s Editions costing $29.99, the Deluxe Founder’s Editions costing $59.99 and the Ultimate Founder’s Edition costing $99.99. We will give you a full list of the differences below.
Smite 2 was developed using Unreal Engine 5, requiring Titan Forge Games to rework or recreate any content they wish to carry over from the original game. While players cannot directly transfer content to the sequel, anything from Season 11 onwards will be available in Smite 2. Publisher Hi-Rez Studios says that the original game will still be supported with new content.
When will Smite 2 be free-to-play?
Smite 2 isn’t expected to transition to the free-to-play open beta stage until sometime in 2025, so anyone who hasn’t brought any of the Founder’s Editions can access the game for free then.
PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S players can join together with full crossplay support, although you will need an Xbox Game Pass account to play it online with the Xbox Series X/S.
Hi-Rez Studios says it will be giving out Alpha codes on its social media platforms and to those who signed up on the website, but it’s not guaranteed to give you access.
