Developer Lavapotion has finally unveiled the 2022-2023 roadmap for turn-based strategy game Songs of Conquest, highlighting the new features it plans to add as the game’s early access stay continues.
Songs of Conquest 2023 roadmap promises both smaller additions – such as achievements or visual interface improvements – as well as bigger content drops. If you count among the players hoping for new campaigns, two more should be coming your way.
Songs of Conquest 2023 Roadmap
The first features to make it to the game’s public test realm are simultaneous turns alongside campaign difficulty settings. A new skirmish map, the ability to control hostiles during combat, options to force quick battle and select a random faction are also coming in the immediate future.
The initial 2022-2023 roadmap also lists the random map generator, an UX/UI facelift for the map editor, more spells, units, and a richer siege battle experience as set to come later this year.
The game’s multiplayer mode will also receive improvements to its simultaneous turns system, lobby, and turn timer. A codex content update and accessibility improvements are also planned.
As 2023 rolls in, Songs of Conquest’s roadmap has been updated to reflect where development is at the moment.
Among the changes introduced in Q1 2023 count beacon improvements, which enhanced their role as a victory condition while also turning them into teleports.
This prompted a rework of teleports, which not lets you choose the beacon you teleport to when owning several.
The Raider’s market lets you trade artifacts and buy items, a finalized version of the map editor is deployed, while troops can now be upgraded in the recruitment screen.
Rana received 100 random events, we now have four new skirmish maps to conquer, while the AI should perform better in battle, having improved tactical awareness.
Although a new campaign failed to materialize in 2023, the Loth faction is set to receive one in Q2 2023. Its four missions went live on May 15.
During the same period, players can expect adventure map town gates, co-op skirmish, additional unit traits and abilities, more hostile enemy units, and skirmish maps.
Songs of Conquest’s 2023 roadmap reveals that the Barya campaign is then slated for Q3 2023, alongside achievements, campaign creation support, improvements to the game’s netcode, and more.
Most notably, Songs of Conquest is slated to fully release towards the end of Q3 2023, unless something changes in the meantime.
The team behind the game has noted the community’s interest in new factions and, while it wants to add them, it admits that it might not be a realistic goal while the game is in early access.
Songs of Conquest’s 2023 roadmap can still suffer changes as development progresses, but continues to offer plenty to be excited about in the lead-up to launch.
