What does Connection Lost or Error Code 140 mean in Space Marine 2? If you’re playing Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 co-operatively with friends or family you may have experienced Connection Lost prompts or disconnect with an Error Code 140 message. This is all due to server instability.
At the moment, not much can be done to fix this issue, which may be more prevalent during maintenance periods when the servers go offline for patches and updates to improve stability. Saber Interactive has acknowledged the problem and says it’s working on fixes in a recent statement.
Is there a fix for Error Code 140 in Space Marine 2?
You can restart the game when it happens, or try verifying the game’s files from within Steam to see if that improves it. You can do this by right-clicking on your game in Steam’s library, selecting properties, then heading to the installed files tab on this prompt, and selecting “verify the integrity of game files”. This will take a moment to complete but could help once it’s finished when you reload Space Marine 2.
A more permanent fix is coming, as Saber explains in the following statement:
“We know some of you are experiencing server issues, loss of saves, or impossibility to connect with friends. We are ramping up our server capacity to reduce the load on them, and are working day and night to reduce the issues. This is a top priority for the team. A bigger patch is planned soon to improve this topic further, alongside new content.”
Crossplay can often cause issues with certain platforms too, so you may want to try turning this off if you’re playing with friends or family that are all on the same platform, just as a quick test. You can do this by heading to the network tab in the games options menu.
Possible Solutions:
- Restart Space Marine 2
- Verify the integrity of Game Files on Steam
- Turn off Crossplay
The next major patch may help resolve some of the issues players are having with Error Code 140.
