Yann François, Creative Producer for Space Marine 2, hinted at a potential Multiplayer Beta, saying, “We’re definitely scanning the options around a beta”, but aren’t able to provide any more details at this time.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is set to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 9th. It will feature a 3-player co-op multiplayer mode and 6v6 PvP matches, with the latter expected to be included in the beta.
Will Space Marine 2 have a multiplayer beta before launch?
During our recent chat with Creative Director Oliver Hollis-Leick and Creative Producer Yann François, we inquired about a potential beta. François humorously responded, pretending his mic was malfunctioning, saying, “Cracking up, sorry, can’t hear you well!” before addressing the question more seriously. He explained, “I’m sorry to tell you that we aren’t ready to communicate that yet, but we’re scanning the options now.”
The beta hasn’t been mentioned on any of its official social media accounts or channels, or any of the pre-order packs listed on the official website. Gold Edition, Ultra Edition, and Collector’s Edition pre-orders will land you access to the game four days early.
Speculation: If Focus Entertainment does plan to release a beta build for the PvP mode, we expect it to be available in late August, just before the launch in September. It may only be available to those who have pre-ordered.
The good news is that crossplay will be supported across all platforms, this is something that François confirmed to us too. You will be able to enjoy its multiplayer modes with friends regardless of platform.
