Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s rocky road to launch continues with yet another delay that sees GSC Game World’s first-person shooter missing its Q1 2024 release window.
As disappointing as this might be for many who’ve been eagerly awaiting the sequel for years now, there is a silver lining in the shape of a “final” release date for Stalker 2, which is now set to launch on September 5, 2024.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl Final Release Date
“Throughout the frankly challenging development process, we understood the (sic!) time was of the team’s main essence,” the developer wrote in a Steam post that explains its reasoning behind the delay.
“Seeing the scope of polishing and understanding that we can’t push your patience too much, we were absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024, and we worked extra hard to meet the release window.
“That, however, doesn’t change the fact that at the beginning of this year, we still witnessed the (sic!) certain amount of technical imperfections that hold S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are waiting for.”
This is why the developer will spend the months leading up to the sequel’s new release date focusing on “yet another wave of polishing.” Hopefully, this means our return to The Zone will be as smooth as possible.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is now expected to launch on September 5, 2024, heading to PC (via both Steam and the Epic Games Store) alongside Xbox Series X/S.
