For a while, publisher Electronic Arts’ offering of Star Wars-themed games were meager and troubled. 2019’s Jedi: Fallen Order provided a clean slate after Battlefront’s missteps, proving that excellent single-player action-adventure games still have a fanbase. Since its launch, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2’s release date - or Survivor as it’s now officially called - has also been a topic that often pops up among fans.
It’s easy to understand why, following the original’s success. It looked great, sounded great, played great, and had lightsabers. It introduced a new character and was set well before the much-maligned trilogy that ended the Skywalker saga. Darth Vader also made an appearance, which could push the sequel in some exciting directions. Here’s what we know so far about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s release date.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Release Date
Publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that Respawn Entertainment is currently developing a follow-up to 2019’s title, alongside two other Star Wars games.
A team led by Game Director Stig Asmussen is working on the next entry in the series. In May 2022, the publisher confirmed that the sequel was, indeed, called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and its release date is currently set to occur at some point in 2023.

The sequel is set five years after the events of the original and follows Cal Kestis, one of the last remaining Jedi, as he is being hunted by the Empire.
Previously, in its Q4 2022 financial report, the publisher revealed that its release schedule for Q4 2023 includes four titles which have not been publicly disclosed yet, two of each are labeled as “Major IP” and “Partner Title.”
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had technically been announced then, which could mean that it’s not one of the four games. Based on what we know so far, this makes it relatively unlikely for its release date to occur prior to the second half of 2023.
According to GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who confirmed the name prior to its official announcement, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is actually the major IP mentioned above. This would put its release date somewhere during the fourth quarter of the publisher’s fiscal year, so before March 31, 2023.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Steam page was updated in December 2022, revealing its release date to be scheduled for March 16, 2023. The details were removed hours later, only to appear again once the game’s actual March 17, 2023 release date was revealed during The Game Awards 2022.
At the end of January 2023, the publisher announced its decision to delay the title until April 28. Although it is now content complete, the extra six weeks will see developer Respawn Entertainment focusing on polishing the experience.
