Star Wars Outlaws Characters and Voice Actors
Kay Vess, a young human female, thrives as a thief and smuggler, drawing parallels to figures like Cassian Jeron Andor or Chelli Lona Aphra. She hails from the Worker’s District in Canto Bight on the planet Cantonica. Vess will serve as the game’s main protagonist alongside her mischievous sidekick Merqaal Nix. The pair aim to take on one of the greatest heists in the history of the Outer Rim Territories.
Kay Vess is voiced by Humberly González and is armed with a Blaster, Grappling Hook, Backa Vials, and a useful Comlink for communications.
Nix, a Merqaal, stands as a loyal companion and best friend to Vess from her childhood. For Nix, Vess is the only family he has, and he is fiercely dedicated to her protection. Voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, Nix possesses the skills to activate switches or buttons, distract guards, and retrieve weapons for Vess, showcasing his invaluable support in their endeavors across the galaxy.
Following the conclusion of the Clone Wars, ND-5, battle-hardened and seasoned, teamed up with Kay Vess to orchestrate a significant heist. Bearing the appearance of a seasoned BX-series droid commando constructed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, ND-5 dons a trench coat, a choice that helps to conceal the scars he obtained during the war. Jay Rincon is doing the voice work for ND-5.
Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay and Storyline
Star Wars Outlaws is set in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, a time when the civil war between the Rebellion and the Empire reaches its peak. This turbulent era provides the perfect backdrop for outlaws and smugglers to flourish.
Kay attracts the eye of Sliro, the chief of the new criminal syndicate Zerek Besh. Following Sliro’s decision to put a bounty on Kay’s head, she and Nix are presented with a shot at liberation - executing one of the most audacious heists ever conceived. Kay and Nix must traverse the galaxy’s underworld, pulling favours with legendary criminal factions such as the Pyke Syndicate, the Hutt Cartel, the Ashiga Clan, and Crimson Dawn, to gain the necessary support to complete their daring mission.
Throughout their adventure, Kay and Nix will travel to several different locations fans of the franchise will be familiar with, including Canto Bight, Kijimi, Tatooine, Akiva, and the windswept savannah of Toshara.
“In search of true freedom, the resourceful Kay and Nix will journey through the underworld and across the Outer Rim, taking on jobs from syndicates, facing off against intimidating foes, avoiding oppressive Imperial rule, and recruiting a skilled outlaw crew in order to pull off one of the greatest heists the galaxy has ever seen,” said Julian Gerighty, Creative Director on Star Wars Outlaws.
Kay Vess, Nix, and ND-5 each possess diverse methods and routes for mission completion, taking advantage of the game’s stealth mechanics. They can engage enemies directly with melee weapons and knockout tactics, or opt for intense Blaster firefights, necessitating cover and strategic navigation through underworld hubs to confront brutal enemies head-on.
The game is set on the moon of Toshara with gameplay footage revealing Vess using a speeder to travel across the terrain swiftly. If you need to manage the consequences of stirring up too much trouble, a wanted system has been implemented. Players are given the option to offer bribes to lower their reputation, which means the Empire won’t be constantly in pursuit.
The game features a reputation system among its various factions, indicating it might be challenging to maintain favor with all of them simultaneously. Consequently, you might find yourself needing to escape from certain planets, venturing into space. Here, confrontations with TIE-Fighters and battles against other ships await as you attempt to flee the different systems.
