Star Wars: Squadrons release date and details were leaked today, ahead of its scheduled official reveal, unveiling not just when we can expect the game to drop but also a bit about its gameplay.
Star Wars: Squadrons is set to launch on October 2 and is headed to the PC, Xbox One and PS4 for the price of $39.99 or your regional equivalent. The PC version will launch simultaneously on Steam, Epic Games Store and Origin.
As IGN points out, Star Wars: Squadrons is developed by EA Motive, set after Return of the Jedi and will focus on first-person space dogfights.
Star Wars: Squadrons Release Date
Star Wars: Squadrons will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes, and will launch with crossplay support between all three platforms. The PC version will also release with VR support.
The game’s story will alternate between two customizable pilots – one part of the New Republic’s Vanguard Squadron, the other belonging to the Imperial Titan Squadron.
Its 5v5 multiplayer will feature two modes. While Fleet Battles focuses on destroying the opposing team’s capital ship, Dogfights tasks players with killing as many enemies as possible.
Star Wars: Squadron’s multiplayer will feature different ship classes, making team composition key to obtaining victory.
Players will be able to customize their starfighters with both parts that affect gameplay and cosmetic items, both of which will, reportedly, be earned exclusively by playing the game.
