Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment are collaborating on a Star Wars game with Lucasfilm Games. Star Wars Zero Company is set to be a turn-based tactics game, and will release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
Rumours of a new Star Wars game developed by Respawn have festered for a few months now, but this week saw the official announcement of Star Wars Zero Company. While details are still light, a first look reveal will occur during Star Wars Celebration later this week.
We don’t know much more besides the fact that it’ll be a turn-based tactics game in the same vein as games like XCOM and Phoenix Point, and that it’s a single-player title. However, a piece of key art may reveal who the central characters of the game will be.
Judging from this piece of art, we can see a Jedi, a Clone Trooper, a Mandalorian, and even a droid. We’re not sure if this is a game where your squad is made up of randomised units like XCOM, or if these are written characters that have their own unique backstories and personalities. Considering Lucasfilm likes to maintain consistency within the lore of Star Wars, we’re betting it’s the latter.
Respawn Entertainment is a studio that is no stranger to the universe after creating the critically acclaimed Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor games. Bit Reactor is a new studio founded by former XCOM developers, so it sounds like the collaboration made in heaven for a game of this type.
More details on Star Wars Zero Company will be revealed at Star Wars Celebration on April 19th.
