Eight years after its launch, Stardew Valley continues to receive updates. Developer ConcernedApe has shared a set of new details regarding update 1.6 and what it will bring to the wildly popular life sim.
Stardew Valley’s update 1.6 will have a different focus than its predecessor, primarily targeting a series of changes that should make modders’ lives easier.
Stardew Valley Update 1.6 Release Date
Patch Release Date: 19th March, 2024
“There is going to be a Stardew 1.6 update,” ConcernedApe wrote on Twitter. “It’s mostly changes for modders (which will make it easier & more powerful to mod).”
The patch will also introduce some new game content, “albeit much less than 1.5,” according to the developer.
The life sim has gathered a very active modding community around itself, which greatly contributes to ensuring its longevity.
Although a smaller amount of new content is bound to disappoint some, it also makes for the perfect moment to try out some mods, if you haven’t already.
While working on Stardew Valley’s update 1.6, the developer will take a break from developing Haunted Chocolatier, his next project.
In July 2023, the developer shared a short list of other features expected to go live with the patch. A new festival is on the way, alongside, new items, additional dialogues, secrets and more.
As September 2023 came to a close, more details about the content of Stardew Valley’s update 1.6 were shared.
A new major festival and two new mini-festivals are on the way, as are new items and crafting recipes. Fresh late-game content will also expand on each of the skill areas.
Certain endgame quests will receive Joja alternatives while more than 100 new lines of dialogue are set to be introduced. If you’re playing on PC, you can team up with 7 other friends in multiplayer.
ConcernedApe gave a new peak at the patch notes for update 1.6 in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Teasing the following changes:
“Cutting down a fruit tree now yields the appropriate fruit sapling. If the tree is mature (i.e. the fruit quality is > basic), it will yield a sapling with the same quality as its fruit. The higher the quality, the faster the sapling will mature when replanted.”
Stardew Valley’s update 1.6 was then given a release date in late February 2024. It is slated to go live on PC come March 19, with console and mobile versions to follow “as soon as possible.”
