Starfield is rapidly approaching its early access release date on 1st September, and many gamers are keen to know the system requirements for it. With storage being a critical consideration for modern gaming, it’s worth noting that Starfield’s specific system requirements include a substantial SSD drive to accommodate the game’s 125GB size. Make sure to prepare your rig for this exciting launch by understanding all the hardware needs for the optimal Starfield experience.
Fortunately, the other hardware necessities are likely to be less problematic for most PC players. Bethesda’s latest sci-fi RPG will support a wide range of older components, so it will be a pretty accessible game for most.
Starfield System Requirements
Bethesda has started the minimum system requirements with an AMD RX 5700 or Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti GPU, pairing them up with not very demanding CPU’s like the AMD Ryzen 5 2600X and Intel Core i7-6800K. If you have any of these older hardware configurations then you should be able to run it as long as you have 16GB of RAM. Just don’t forget that you will need a 125GB SSD drive to go with it.
Starfield Minimum Requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 version 21H1
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-6800K
- RAM: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 or NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti
- Storage: 125GB SSD
The jump up from minimum to the recommended system requirements won’t need a PC capable of making the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, but you will need to make sure you’re outfitted with either an AMD RX 6800 XT or Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU if you want to run it at optimal settings. It would make sense to pair these cards up with either an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i5 10600K CPU too.
Starfield’s Recommended Requirements:
- OS: Windows 10/11
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel i5-10600K
- RAM: 16 GB RAM
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
- Storage: 125GB SSD
That covers everything your PC will need to romance your way into Starfield at 1080p, and we expect it to achieve 60FPS with the recommended requirements. If you’re aiming for 60FPS at 4K, you may need to upgrade your graphics card slightly.
We expect to learn more about these specific requirements towards the end of the month, so stay tuned for further details. Bethesda has mentioned that the Xbox Series X and Series S will be capped at 30FPS and that there won’t be any cap for the PC release. What about the PS5? It’s exclusive to the Xbox platform for the foreseeable future.
You may also be interested in knowing about widescreen support. Although we haven’t received official confirmation yet, widescreen support has become quite standard among the mainstream releases, and therefore, we expect it to be available when Starfield launches on 6th September.
