The July 7th Nacon showcase has revealed our first look and release date schedule for Steelrising, a game set in the grand old days of Louis XVI, within the walls of a revolutionary Paris. In this world the King seeks to crush the revolution using an army of robots set loose on the city and it feels very clockpunk in style.
Queen Marie-Antoinette has grown increasingly distraught at the sight of her husband’s madness and sent Aegis, her automaton bodyguard to track down the machine’s creator and put a stop to the chaos. You play as this female robot as you stalk the multilevelled streets of Paris on your mission.
Aegis is a bit like Robocop, but with even more weapons integrated inside her body. You can use and acquire weapons from light blades and alchemical rifles, all the way to much heavier ordnance intended to end a fight before it has even begun. This is in addition to the upgrade track that will let you choose how to enhance the body, making it more powerful, more durable, or more mobile, depending on your playstyle.
Steelrising Release Date
Spiders are developing Steelrising and have made a point to dive deeper into the world and give players more reasons to explore including lots of side quests to fill out the world and make it worth taking your time to gather unique gear and items. They’ve also sought to tie the world together more fluidly and avoid the common “oh, a fight” moments.
The action-focused game doesn’t currently have a release date, as it’s still TBC, but we expect you’ll get a chance to explore 18th century Paris and “climb up on a balcony, discover a secret passage to another location - that kind of thing” in 2021. Steelrising will be available on Steam where you can add it to your wishlist now. It’s also in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
