Stellar Blade has been announced exclusively for the PlayStation 5, with Sony Interactive Entertainment confirming its release on the platform. However, there is a possibility that it might make its way to PC following the initial PS5 launch slated for 26th April.
PC players might be waiting for a couple of years, as Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan suggested that, while PC ports remain part of the company’s strategy, they may continue to launch years after the PS5 versions.
The recent pattern of PlayStation 5 titles being released on PC two to three years post-launch was notably disrupted with Helldivers 2. This game simultaneously debuted on both Steam and PlayStation 5 on February 8.
What’s happening with a Stellar Blade PC release?
Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Shift Up haven’t confirmed or commented on a PC release, so it’s up in the air about a possible release date, or if it will even arrive on this platform.
First-party games from PlayStation normally take a while to land on consoles, like God of War or Horizon Forbidden West, but it can happen much sooner with third-party games like Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2.
The problem lies in the lack of details regarding the agreement Sony has with Shift Up, which means any potential PC release date for Stellar Blade remains pure speculation until an official announcement is made by either party.
We may learn more upon its release for the PS5 on the 26th April, and should we hear anything, we will be sure to keep you updated.
Stellar Blade has a playable demo coming up on March 29th at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET, so players will have a good chance to step into the shoes of Eve, a hero tasked with saving humanity from the brink of oblivion.
This demo will include the tutorial phase to help you familiarize yourself with basic combat features as you explore post-war Eidos 7, a human city now infested by the Naytiba.
You can find out more about it on the PlayStation Blog.
