Publisher Paradox Interactive today revealed the DLC included in Stellaris’ Season 9, giving us our first proper look at the content we can expect throughout the year. From enhancements to the forces of life to an overhaul of the Psionic Ascension path and a fiery new race, 2025 promises to be quite an eventful year.
Stellaris’ Season 9 kicks off on May 5, when the Biogenesis expansion launches, introducing two biological shipsets, a Hive Fallen Empire, alongside a versatile deep space citadel megastructure that bolsters defensive capabilities.

Genetic Ascension receives an overhaul that lets us choose traditions belonging to three paths (Cloning, Purity, and Mutation) while tapping into 18 enhanced Authorities.
In addition, the expansion also brings with it six new civics – Genetic Identification, Crowdsourcing, Familiar Face, Aerospace Adaptation, Shared Genetics, Civil Education –, the ferocious-sounding Behemoth Fury crisis path, alongside the following thee origins:
- Evolutionary Predators: Push the boundaries of Species Traits by unlocking and combining unique phenotype abilities to craft the ultimate adaptive empire.
- Starlit Citadel: Solve the mystery of your empire’s biological attackers while boosting hyperlane choke-point strategies with early access to the Deep Space Citadel megastructure.
- Wilderness: Begin as a sapient planetary ecosystem, a living gestalt of countless lifeforms united in harmony, seeking to spread its consciousness to the stars.
In Q3 2025, Stellaris Season 9 brings us the Shadows of the Shroud expansion, which promises a “complete overhaul of the Psionic Ascension path, introducing new moral dilemmas, Patron allegiances, and a whole new way of interacting with the mysteries of the Shroud.”
Things get spicy in Q4 2025, when the Infernals Species Pack allows us to thrive while burning the galaxy to the ground but also discover new, volcanic worlds.
Stellaris’ Season 9 Expansion Pass is available now available for PC. Priced at $44.99 or your regional equivalent, it offers a 20% discount over purchasing its expansions individually.
Furthermore, doing so instantly unlocks the Stargazer Species portrait, which includes three variations and unique animations.
