Publisher and developer FireFly Studios today unveiled the Summer/Autumn roadmap</b> for real-time strategy game Stronghold: Warlords, detailing the second batch of post-launch content that players can expect over the coming months.
Stronghold: Warlords’ Summer/Autumn roadmap features both smaller and bigger updates, its most notable addition being new AI Lord Kublai Khan, available in both the game’s skirmish and multiplayer modes as well as future skirmish trail missions.
Bringing with him a new castle design and employing new strategies, Kublai Khan favors “luxurious materials […] to boost his economy” and “will only settle for the best militarily, favoring the use of Imperial class soldiers in his army,” Marketing Director Nick Tannahill explains. The new AI lord’s campaign follows him across China focusing on events like the battles with the Dali Kingdom.
The second major update on Stronghold: Warlords’ Summer/Autumn roadmap revolves around the game’s second Skirmish trail, which comes with “at least 10 new single player missions.”
“Set across a mix of existing and new battlefields, recreated from some of the finest Stronghold multiplayer maps over the past 20 years, each will challenge players with unique opponents, resources, tactical options and more,” reads an emailed press release. This update will also add the Thunderbomb Thrower and Wolf Warlord units alongside an additional “mini AI” with its own unique perk and battlefield abilities.
Today, Stronghold: Warlords’ fifth major patch will introduce a series of fixes and general improvements. Minor updates will continue adding more, while further optimizations are also expected over the coming months, as are new maps and a mystery update that “provides a fun spin on existing mechanics.”
