Publisher Nacon and developer KT Racing today unveiled a new concept trailer for upcoming racing game Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, during this year’s Nacon Direct showcase.
Although it was rather short and didn’t feature any new gameplay, the trailer doubled down on Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s focus on customizing your car and making it reflect your personality.
The latest entry in the franchise takes players to Hong Kong Island – an environment built at a 1:1 scale –, where it promises a realistic open-world racing game experience that’s both rooted in the series’ past and modern.
“Test Drive Unlimited is more than just a racing game, but rather a game about the joy of driving your car, the car that reflects your style and the one you have chosen over all the others,” the developer noted in a blog post from earlier in May.
“Buying a car from a dealership, listening to the radio while driving, putting the top down when the rain stops, using the turn signals properly, and even simply opening the window are all details that millions of players have fallen in love with. Our goal is to meet those expectations and to stay true to the franchise’s DNA by including all those details.”
TDU Solar Crown will also feature a host of renowned car manufacturers, including names such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Dodge, and many others. A host of different races and game modes, alongside a “major ‘lifestyle’ component that goes beyond simple street battles on wheels” are also planned.
Originally unveiled in 2020, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is now aiming for a 2023 launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
