Frostpunk developer 11 bit studios has set a June 13th release date for its upcoming sci-fi game, The Alters.
The Alters is described as an “emotional sci-fi game” that blends “survival, adventure, and base building elements.” For those familiar with 11 bit’s portfolio of survival games like Frostpunk and This War of Mine, The Alters looks to be continuing with those dark themes.
The game features a twist on the typical survival formula by letting you create alternate versions of your character based on their past choices and life events. This brings unique skills and traits to your crew, helping you survive the harsh environment.
The game’s official description reads:
“Use the quantum computer onboard your base to simulate alternate outcomes of your past choices and uncoverJan’s different life paths. Each Alter brought to life thanks to the remarkable properties of Rapidium comes with unique skills and emotional depths. These variantions offer both opportunities and challenges as you navigate personal struggles and manage the fragile dynamics of your crew.
“To operate the mobile base, you’ll need to explore the planet’s surface in search of precious resources, like metals and organics. Yet venturing outside the safe haven comes with the risk of exposing you and your Alters to various deadly anomalies as well as the ever-present radiation of the sun. That’s why you must pay attention to the in-game day and night cycle and plan your daily activities wisely!”
It sounds like this will be one for Frostpunk fans to check out later this Spring.
The Alters will release on June 13th, 2025 for PC via Steam, Epic, and GOG, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It’ll also be launching on Game Pass for both Xbox and PC.
