What mods should you be using for Star Wars Outlaws? Outlaws is pleasing many fans of the sci-fi juggernaut franchise who have long wanted to live out their space scoundrel fantasies. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the open-world spacefaring game sees scoundrel Kay Vess planet-hopping to escape the repercussions of a heist gone wrong. While plenty of players are enjoying the game as it is, some will want more out of it, and for PC players, there’s always the modding scene to help tweak the game to the liking of the individual.
Here we take a look at some of the Best Star Wars Outlaws Mods out there that smooth over technical cracks, and apply some extra visual glitter to the open-world adventure.
The Best Star Wars Outlaws Mods
The modding community is ramping up its efforts, resembling the smuggling scoundrels found in the galactic empire, and as a result, we’ve picked out numerous mods that can serve the Rebel Alliance effectively.
We plan to return every month to explore the latest creations shared by the talented community. Below is our curated list of mods that we believe will be particularly useful. A big thank you to all the authors featured on this page and to the wider community for their incredible work.
Anti-Stutter - High CPU Priority
This mod is especially helpful for lower-end CPUs trying to run Star Wars Outlaws. The game can suffer from stuttering if your machine isn’t quite up to scratch, so ChemBoy1’s mod, which also supports Ubisoft Plus is unsurprisingly one of the most popular for the game.
The exact details are below.
Simple registry edit to enable High CPU Priority for the Star Wars Outlaws executable. This can help with performance on weaker CPUs. Helps reduce stuttering on all CPUs. A performance improvement is not guaranteed, and can sometimes be worse (though unlikely). Your mileage may vary. The main improvement this mod can provide is a reduction in stuttering, even if FPS stays the same.
Alternatively, this version of the mod, which also supports HelixClient, could be a decent alternative.
Depth of Field Reshade
Built on the bones of an existing Realism Overhaul mod (see below), Rat0verlord’s Depth of Field Reshade aims to make Star Wars Outlaws look better by giving it the depth of field it deserves. A small touch, but one that can greatly enhance the visual presentation of the open world.
Outlaws - Definitive Photorealistic
While a distinct visual style is essential, you can’t help PC players wanting mods that push a game’s look into the realms of photorealism. For Star Wars Outlaws, enter DIRECREEP’s bundle of realism joy, which offers a slate of tweaks that complement the game rather than override the developer’s vision.
Describing their mod, DIRECREEP says ‘’Tweaks in Depth Of Field, Clarity, Colors and Contrast, for a more immersive and enjoyable experience! Is for those who want their game to look better but WITHOUT RUINING the developers’ work! Excellent for HDR10+ and Non HDR Monitors’’
Camera Fixes
This mod from the fittingly named CandoLalrissian features PPF patches to patch the game exe so it removes certain Post-Processing Effects that cause issues during camera movement. Noted issues in the game without this include blurring of the protagonist’s hair and generally blurry details where sharpness would be more desirable.
