Stealth title The Church in the Darkness now has an official release date, publisher Fellow Traveller and developer Paranoid Productions announced today, being scheduled to launch on August 2.
Headed to PC, via Steam, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, The Church in the Darkness puts players in the shoes of ex-law enforcement officer Vic, who infiltrates a religious cult as he attempts to discover the whereabouts of his nephew.
The Church in the Darkness Release Date
With its release date less than two weeks away, The Church in the Darkness emphasizes choice. While sneaking will likely be ideal, given how you’re a stranger on the Collective Justice Mission’s grounds, players can opt to dispatch cultists lethally or non-lethally.
Not all cult members treat Vic with hostility, some being eager to chat to him. Furthermore, exploring cabins can reveal clues about the cult’s goings-on. Piecing information together will inevitably draw you closer to not only Vic’s nephew, but also cult leaders Rebecca and Isaac Walker, voiced by Ellen McLain and John Patrick, known for voicing Portal’s GLaDOS and Team Fortress 2’s Sniper respectively.
“The Church in the Darkness highlights the mystery surrounding cults, and how they are not always what they seem. There are multiple endings for each scenario and what ending you get will be influenced by the player’s stealthy or aggressive gameplay.”, a press release reads.
You can see the game in motion in its infiltration reveal video from almost three years ago, or in its newest, trailer which you’ll find just below.
