This release didn’t catch the game’s dedicated fanbase off guard, as there was significant speculation on its subreddit about a launch that same evening. Impressively, the game has already attracted over 198,175 concurrent players on Steam making it the next smash hit.

The Finals Patch Notes - Update 1.8.0

Love is in the air as Update 1.8.0 goes live, introducing The Finals’ first Valentine’s Day event and its six unlockable rewards.
The physics of red canisters now makes overloaded cans drop faster and take less predictable pathways. Barrels with attachments should no longer be capable of causing a double explosion and stacking damage, which the developer both described as “accidental.”
Cloaking sound effects now make it easier to differentiate between teammates and opponents. In addition, input latency has been reduced on Xbox Series X/S while PC users should now see improved boot times. Several other fixes were also deployed.

The Finals Patch Notes - Update 1.7.0
Update 1.7.0 disables The Finals’ Dead Go Boom, due to it being overly punishing for melee users. It also adds a “Play Again” button that allows parties to quickly jump into new matches.
In terms of progression, the amount of experience gained has been increased across the board, resulting in greater yields when completing weekly contracts and goals, finishing in the first 4th places during a round, and more.

The Finals Patch Notes - Update 1.6.0

The latest patch for The Finals introduces a dynamic new environment where stations are fortified with turrets and tripwires. Players are going to be invited to participate in the ‘Steal the Spotlight’ event this week, offering a chance to unlock a cosmetic bundle as a memento of their battles in the shadows. However, the update also sees the temporary removal of the Solo Bank It mode.
Embark Studios expresses its gratitude to the community for engaging with this experimental mode and providing valuable feedback, promising the introduction of more experimental modes in the future based on these insights.
The Finals Patch 1.6.0 sees Recon Senses reworked to have a limited range, eliminating the previous infinite sight capability, and players will now receive notifications when spotted. Veteran players will be pleased to find 10 new levels added to the Career Rank, complete with additional rewards. The latest hotfix, 1.5.1, for The Finals is designed to tackle the glitches that emerged with the previous Update 1.5.0. This hotfix brings several key improvements. It addresses a bug that caused certain weapons to exhibit unintended bullet dispersion/spread/bloom when aimed down sights.
Additionally, it corrects an issue where the Solo Bank It progress bar displayed inaccurate values post-deposit. Notably, it resolves a login problem specific to new Steam accounts, identified by the TFLA0002 error. The update also fixes a bug where item unlock animations sometimes fail to appear after a purchase. Moreover, it resolves two critical issues: a crash linked to the raytracing code and another potential crash during startup. Finally, the controller zoom sensitivity setting has been reset to its default value.

The Finals Patch Notes - Update 1.5.0

In the latest patch notes for The Finals Update 1.5.0, several significant changes have been made. We will give you a quick run-down and then provide a link to the full patch notes. Solo Bank It is introduced with this patch, pitting players against each other in a 12-player arena. Just like in Bank It, the first player to accumulate 40,000 and deposit it at the cash-out station is declared the winner. This is great news for solo players!
Abilities and Gadgets: Major adjustments have been made to abilities and gadgets. The Cloaking Device now has an increased activation cost and minimum charge time, requiring more strategic use. The Grapple Hook’s functionality is tweaked to not attach to objects linked to carriables. A notable change in gadgets includes the C4’s reduced player damage and the varying cooldown changes for Flashbang, Gas Mine, Incendiary Mine, and Vanishing Bomb. Additionally, the Stun Gun’s stun effect duration is decreased, and the Tracking Dart now has a new Scoped Zoom Sensitivity Multiplier setting.
Game Modes, Maps, and Weapons: The game modes ‘Bank It’ and ‘Quick Cash’ now start their show events earlier, with adjusted team wipe respawn times in Ranked Tournament and Tournament modes. The Las Vegas map received updates for more realistic destruction and improved zipline behavior. Weapon tweaks are extensive: the Flamethrower, LH1, and M60 have increased damage, while the SH1900 Shotgun’s damage is reduced per pellet. The Riot Shield has updated animations and fixes for invisibility and bullet-blocking issues. The M11’s recoil pattern is revised for better control, and Throwing Knives now feature new trail effects.

A smaller update than most, The Finals’ patch 1.4.1 responds to community feedback on matters such as aim assist and fair play while also squashing a handful of bugs.
Zoom Snapping Angular Velocity is now capped, which means unintended rapid 90-degree turns should no longer be possible. Player aim should feel less sticky while controller accuracy is lowered due to Camera Magnetism being reduced from 50% to 35%. A bug that caused aim assist to target invisible players has been fixed, while players who use key re-mapping programs on PC will no longer be able to rely on aim assist.

The Finals Patch Notes - Update 1.2.2

If you played in the closed beta tests for The Finals, you may have noticed some changes in the speed and Field-of-View (FOV) settings with the launch build, and Embark Studios is recommending that players change the FOV to 90 in the Video Settings menu, which should restore the familiar gameplay feel from the Beta tests. Movement animations in the first-person view have also been fine-tuned for a smoother experience.

The Finals Patch Notes - Update 1.2.0

Patch 1.2.0 is the one that kicked it all off, releasing on December 8th, and inaugurating Season 1. This update introduces a variety of new features including Reload and Inspect animations, Emoticons, Gestures, Pets, Sounds, and Watches. Additionally, the Store is now open, offering a rotating array of content to help customize your contestants.
The Season 1 BattlePass is packed with content, offering 12 pages of unlockable rewards, which amount to 96 exclusive items, including 29 free rewards. Completing the entire BattlePass rewards players with 1575 Multibucks. The update also enhances gameplay with the introduction of 6 Mastery Levels for each weapon and gadget, alongside 5 levels per ability, allowing for more in-depth player progression.
The new Las Vegas map is set against a glamorous backdrop, with additional map variants such as the Sandstorm version in Las Vegas. Players should remain vigilant of environmental hazards, including tripwires and turrets. A new Alien invasion event has been added, along with improvements to movement and animation, ensuring smoother and more stable actions, particularly on moving surfaces.
Combat animations have been refined, with controller settings being expanded to include sensitivity scaling, enhanced aim assistance, and other customizable options like controller vibration. Map enhancements reintroduce the wrecking ball, improve map readability, and optimize environmental conditions.
