Warlander is going to be a simple game - featuring a vicious warrior and his sentient, speaking lightsaber-like sword, Warlander will let players loose in a world where virtually everything is out to get them. Doesn't take much time to put 2 and 2 together, really.
Inspired by old Jedi Knight titles, Warlander's central gimmick will be its precise sword combat, where each strike can de-limb enemies and/or outright eviscerate them, depending on how good your aim is.
While not much is known about Warlander short of its intriguing combat, and that it's not afraid of gritty voice-over, developers promise unlockable combat abilities, skill-tree progression, environmental kills, and other assorted killing-related features.
The trailer featured at the bottom of the article does prominently showcase how the protagonist's totally-not-lightsaber works in practice, and there seems to be considerable heft and weight to how it all handles. Of course, there's no telling before Warlander is out, but it is looking promising so far.
Warlander is currently slated for a Q4 2019 release, and can already be found on Steam.
