Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is rewarding players with loot that they cannot equip because its requirements exceed the current level cap.
At launch, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands' max level goes up to 40, but certain endgame items require as high a character level as 44 to equip.
This is impossible to reach right now. Once you hit level 40, all earned experience feeds into the endgame Myth Rank system, which unlocks a separate set of bonuses without increasing your character level.
The issue came to light thanks to Reddit threads started by users <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/Wonderlands/comments/tp56m7/legendary_loot_level_44_and_43_cant_equip/"</a>Iridescences1</a> and afrankiewicz12, who received legendary items with the higher level cap requirements.
Although there's no shortage of loot you can equip in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands – some of it being quite powerful –, getting new and nonetheless legendary items that you cannot use during the endgame, when all you have left to do is farm items, can be quite frustrating.
While this could be a bug, it might also mark an oversight on developer Gearbox Software's part. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will receive four pieces of downloadable content, the first of which is slated to drop on April 21.
Although there's no official confirmation that they will increase the level cap, past Borderlands DLC has done so. It could be that the developers either forgot to limit loot drops at level 40 or are teasing an upcoming level cap increase.
Nevertheless, if you do get loot whose requirements are higher than the current level cap while playing Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, it might be a good idea to stash it in your bank. If that max level increase does come further down the line, you'll have some new toys to play with right off the bat.
